Original Prints by Renowned British Sculptors
28/01/18Malcolm will be showing some of his prints in this exhibiton
Eames Fine Art Gallery

"Both sculpting and printmaking are essentially tactile and collaborative art-making techniques. While artists like Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore are more widely known for their sculptures, this exhibition explores the mesmerising prints that showcase, on a two-dimensional surface, their skills in composition and colour.
Many sculptors also make wonderful printmakers. It may be that they can visualise the 3D image emerging from a block or a blank plate in a similar way to making a sculpture, or perhaps it’s because they are skilled at working with a team on a collaborative work either in a sculpture studio or a print studio. Either way, sculptors’ prints have an exciting dimension to them. It seems that sculptors are less concerned with the composition on the page and more with the space-creating, physical texture and contrasting elements of their mark-making...
We have a wonderful selection of works by major British artists including Elisabeth Frink, Joe Tilson, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Malcolm Franklin.
While the sculptures by these renowned artists are held in museum collections around the world, and are often beyond the usual art collector’s budget, their editioned prints are much more accessible, allowing visitors to this exhibition to take home an original Antony Gormley or Anish Kapoor!"
